FCCLA students will host a Trunk or Treat Wednesday in the cafeteria parking lot from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the children in the Ranger community.
Chisholm Trail has never hosted a Trunk or Treat since the opening two years ago. There are now enough students and clubs to help make the event a success.
FCCLA coordinator, Kasey Conroy, is surprised at the number of groups participating.
“When we first opened, there wasn’t as much participation in events like these. We had 17 groups sign up,” Conroy said.
Conroy also said that the Trunk or Treat was FCCLA’s idea.
“All of the high schools have been doing it, so we wanted to incorporate their idea with our ideas and make it our own. So FCCLA made the Trunk or Treat become a Chisholm Trail tradition and our theme this year is carnival,” said senior Jordyn Noble.
Senior Student Council president, Rachael Dickey said, “We like to be part of the school and interact within the community.”
FCCLA member Marissa Aguillon said Dickey’s idea is exactly the advantage of being part of the event.
“Community service. And to dress up and have fun,” Aguillon said.
Conroy said the location of the event could be key, also.
“Trunk or Treat provides an opportunity for children in the community to attend a fall festival that’s not across town as well as high school students to build relationships within their clubs and organizations,” Conroy said. “I hope it’s a success.”
